The (Biblical) Truth About Business Partnerships

Good morning, my friends!

I hope you’re doing fantastic today. Let’s dive into a topic that’s been heavy on my heart: partnerships. Not just any partnerships—business partnerships. And we’re taking it straight from the ultimate playbook: the Bible.

A Lesson from Matthew 19

The Pharisees, doing what they do best, once asked Jesus about marriage and divorce, trying to trip Him up. His response? Profound. He reminded them that a man and woman are brought together, and the two become one. He also pointed out that some people just aren’t built for the responsibilities of that kind of partnership.

And here’s where I had a lightbulb moment: that’s not just about marriage—it’s about all partnerships. Business included. Let me break this down for you.

Why Partnerships Matter in Business

If you’re trying to grow your business, partnerships can be the jet fuel you need. But let’s be real: not all partnerships are created equal. A successful partnership requires alignment—not just in goals but in values, vision, and work ethic.

Here are three key principles to guide your partnerships, inspired by Matthew 19:

  1. Alignment of Values Jesus was clear—partnerships are serious. Whether it’s marriage or business, the foundation must be strong. Before committing, ask yourself, Do we see the world the same way? Do we value integrity, service, and growth?

In my own journey, I’ve seen how misaligned values can derail even the best business ideas.

  2. Shared Vision Imagine trying to drive a car with one person steering left and the other steering right. That’s what a partnership without a shared vision looks like. Agreeing on your destination—and how you’ll get there—is non-negotiable.

  3. Capacity for Commitment Some people simply aren’t ready for the weight of a true partnership, and that’s okay. Jesus called it out when He said, “Not everyone can accept this word.” In business, too, you have to be honest about your partner's capacity to commit.

How This Applies to Healthcare Professionals

If you’re a healthcare professional looking to scale your business, these principles are especially crucial. Your partnerships—whether with peers, collaborators, or even platforms—can amplify your impact if done right.

For instance, many of my clients face challenges with attention—getting enough eyes on what they do. Collaborating with someone who has complementary strengths can be a game-changer. But if their values or vision don’t align with yours? It can lead to frustration, burnout, and setbacks.

Final Thoughts: Principles Over Feelings

At the end of the day, we must live by principles. Feelings fade, but principles stand firm. If the Bible is your guide (it’s mine!), let it shape how you approach partnerships.

Are you ready to evaluate your current or future partnerships? Take the time to reflect on whether they align with your values, share your vision, and have the capacity for true commitment. It might just be the key to unlocking your next level of success.

Much love,
Greg Todd
