I just finished a class… and I got called out.
Like… really called out.
Not by a coach.
Not by someone getting paid to push me.
By another person in the class.
And honestly?
I needed it.
So here’s what happened.
We’re doing this exercise where you have to hold onto these bars and engage your core.
Simple enough, right?
Nah.
My hands were on fire.
Like… legit hurting.
And instead of pushing through it…
I did what a lot of people do when things get uncomfortable…
…I looked for a way out.
There was a little step stool underneath the bar.
So I thought, “Let me just put my foot on it real quick… take a little pressure off.”
I figured no one was paying attention.
But someone was.
She looked at me and said:
“That’s bull.”
I was like… wait, what?
She didn’t stutter either.
She meant it.
And the crazy thing is…
She was 100% right.
I wasn’t giving my all.
I was focused on the pain in my hands…
Instead of the opportunity to actually get stronger.
Read that again.
I was focused on the pain…
instead of the opportunity.
And because of that?
My body won.
My mind didn’t.
But it didn’t stop there.
After that set, she actually gave me gloves to help.
Cool, right?
Nah… she wasn’t done.
We got to the next station…
…and she went IN on me.
She said:
“This is my third class today. I’m going to work after this. I don’t want to hear anything about being tired.”
Third class.
Same morning.
And I’m over here complaining about one.
And just like that…
Everything changed.
My mindset.
My energy.
My effort.
All of it.
Why?
Because I got reminded of something that I think a lot of you need to hear right now:
There are levels to pain.
There are levels to effort.
There are levels to discipline.
There are levels to what you think is “hard.”
Look…
I’m not saying what you’re going through isn’t real.
I’m not saying it doesn’t hurt.
But let’s be honest for a second…
There’s someone out there doing more than you…
with less than you…
complaining less than you.
And once you SEE that…
You can’t unsee it.
When I saw her still going hard after THREE classes…
You think I was about to quit on Russian twists?
You think I was about to slow down on shuttle runs?
Nah.
All of a sudden… I found another gear.
Not because the workout changed.
But because my perspective did.
And that’s the lesson.
Most of you aren’t stuck because things are too hard.
You’re stuck because you’re focused on the wrong thing.
You’re focused on:
The discomfort
The inconvenience
The temporary pain
Instead of:
The growth
The stretch
The next level that’s available to you
Sometimes you don’t need motivation.
Sometimes…
You need to get called out.
So here’s what I want you to ask yourself:
Where in your life are you putting your foot on the step stool?
Where are you easing up… when you know you shouldn’t?
Where are you choosing comfort… over growth?
Because the truth is…
There’s another level waiting for you.
But you’re not going to get there doing what’s easy.
And hey…
If nobody’s calling you out right now?
Take this as that moment.
Let’s go get better.
